A bit of background
My name is Amanda Daly and I founded Libero International LLC to act as a libero (more on that here) for any team, any time, any where. But what, exactly, brought me to this place in… well in the first place? I’ve got a bit of an eclectic background, I like learning new things you see, but I’ll summarize the most recent and good bits.
I grew up loving human psychology. It fascinated me, much as it did both my parents, both my sisters, and both of my cousins, all of whom have degrees in various psychological fields. I hadn’t intended to study it officially, I did plenty of self-study all on my own. However, after finishing my undergrad in Communications, it occurred to me that a formal education in the thing I loved may just be worth it.
I set off to graduate school, immersing myself in the particulars and structures of concepts I’d been observing in myself and others throughout the course of my entire life. It was a weird mix of ‘oh that has a name!’ and ‘oh that’s what she had.’ It reinforced my view that nothing in the human experience is truly random, that the influences on our choices and perspectives, while a truly complex equation, is a culmination of identifiable factors.
As graduation loomed, I realized my study of psychology, while fascinating and engaging, had been incomplete. I had spent time in other countries in my life, but I’d never had the breadth of experience to make calculated observations, to truly lean into a cultural setting outside of my familiar own.
So after graduating with my master’s in psychology, I lived and worked in South East Asia volunteering with non-profit organizations that specialized in anti-human trafficking networks and coalitions. Suddenly I was smack in the middle of a web comprised of truly unique and fascinating players all working for the good of their communities. It was inspiring, it was heartbreaking, and most of all it was eye-opening.
After a year I signed on full time to run their international communications department from the United Kingdom. I traded in my shorts for a parka and jetted off to another new culture, though this one felt a bit more familiar. Still in the center of that web, a whole new cast of characters opened my eyes even further, and I was able to work with even more stakeholders in the fight to end human trafficking.
Things went a bit pear-shaped in 2020, as it did for everyone in the world. And while I got to do some amazing things living in Europe, COVID-19 brought me back home. It’s felt like a full circle journey in many respects, like one continuous epic that returned me back to where I began, only entirely different, and wholly focused.
I jumped on board with a social enterprise that needed a strategic partnership manager, and I found a love for connecting people and doing it well. And in a bid for something to further my people skills, I worked as an online match maker, interviewing hundreds of people until I decided I could talk to almost anyone about anything.
After encouragement from my community in the anti-trafficking sphere, I decided that opening a company would allow me to continue the work of problem solving and connecting people on a larger, cross-sector scale. So here we are, a company built on the personal experience of an insatiably curious mind hoping to do a bit of good with all she’s learned.
Experience is never wasted, and I can’t wait to keep adding to my own and, hopefully, adding to others.
