Social & Neuroscience + Research

A series on the guiding forces behind Libero founder, Amanda Daly’s, problem solving philosophy.

Curiosity, research, and discovery are core tenants in everything I do, because everything we think to try is just conducting an experiment! During my master’s program I focused on psychology research because I wanted to learn how to conduct it formally so that I could better conduct it informally. It was a great time, and I even conducted the first research study with an experimental protocol in my department’s history:

The Empathy Mitigation: Empathy and its Impact on Pain Perception and Altruistic Motivation

My love of research afforded me the opportunity during COVID-19 to work with the IAHT Network and collaborate with numerous international researchers. I was even awarded the chance to study business market research on the ground in Cambodia. The complex socioeconomic, psychological, and cultural factors contributing to survivor’s and those at risk of trafficking or exploitation and their experience in the job market:

Bridging the Employment Gap?
An exploratory research on the accessibility into the workplace of survivor and at-risk populations in Cambodia

When it comes to problem solving, there is much to be learned from all fields of science. As my fascination has always mainly been in the sphere of improving society through improving the mechanisms that make it function, studying people has been a particular fascination.

Strides in imaging technology have made neuroscience study an entirely new frontier with endless possibilities. The more we understand how people work, the more we understand why they behave the way they do. Approaching every person and entity with the curiosity of a neuroscientist, I learn something new every day, and every new thing I learn is folded back into my problem solving strategy.
